Wooden Toys

Brain Boy

Two toys made from wood and painted with acrylic. With both characters the top of the head comes off to reveal what the character is thinking about.

Based on the saying ‘open your mind’ and ‘I’ve changed my mind’ the idea is that you can control what they are thinking about, taking out the circular wood chip of a brain and replacing it with a different design such as a clock or the world.

eye boy

tyre boy

We’ve done quite a few different designs for the circular chips including, a tyre, the sun, a clock, a brain, an eye ball, the world and an English breakfast. We wanted to play on the idea of people being told what to think.

Wonderful and interesting. Looking forward to seeing them in toy shops up and down the land, exchanged for loads on eBay and then, of course, a custom show.

Thanks guys. We made these with the help of our local green candidate and wood cutter extraordinaire, he cut out the pieces and we glued, sanded and painted them.

i actually don’t like them. I mean I love wooden toys- but these ones aren’t that great.
I wish they could do something more than switching their brains… rims and an eye ball? Hate. Why would the character be thinking about an eyeball???
But what do i know- I just post things on sites all day because I have nothing better to do. I should actually be making wooden toys to rival these pathatic excuses for “toys.”
It would be more exciting if they transformed into hamburgers.
    aaaaannd- I’m spent.

Appreciate the feedback, I think. It’s good to have your own opinions.

“Why would the character be thinking about an eyeball???”

Why wouldn’t he, he’s actually an eye doctor about to perform a Laser-assisted Cornea-transplant. Anway, I suppose they’re not really toys in the traditional sense, but it was just some fun, never expected it would fuel some HATE.

coolness. :) where can i purchase these things?

  11. Loris Says:

I love the toys. I think they’re fun. When I was small, I used to have a cloud-shaped cookie cutter and use it as a template to make thought bubbles for my animals. (Barbie, obviously, didn’t have many thoughts.) Obviously these are too sophisticated for kids (…or ARE they?…) but anyway, it just made me think of that.

PS, I work at a computer screen all day, and I think about my eyeballs a lot.

  12. Ash Spain Says:

Nice toys dudes. You should make them so they have a different facial expression on the reverse side, then you could make it so they are either happy or sad thinking about a donut or something. That would kinda follow on with the idea of changing your mind. and possibly hinge the shoulders inside their bodies - nothing too fancy - but just to make them a bit more functional.

What was i thinking about again - oh yeah..

    Mmmmm donuts …..

  13. ben fussel Says:

these toys are really random what the hell are they?!?!?!?!?!?

  14. ben fussel Says:

me again i was just thinking over these toys, i have changed my mind i think they are really poo, so you can make one in my honour with some shit on the brain

  15. Dave Carnaby Says:

I would like to see one of the toys with sex on their minds i think this would be a really fun idea and bring a main adult audience

  16. Ricardo Opstaele Says:

i think its not a toy but if it is made with no glue sticking out and well sandpapered you could sell it as an design object you know limited edition … if you send the things to me i will promoted it in belgium where i live also the reason why my english is weird
